Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The process of upgrading an item, often called "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment provides an increase in the linearity of a given stat.
Players can recycle up to six items at a time in order to gain an ability to gauge the level of each of the upgraded components. The cost of recycling an item scales according to its rarity and.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an item upgrade is a way to increase the stats of your weapon and armor. This can be achieved through a number of means such as using upgrade components as well as upgrading an item's mark level or rarity. Many items can also be reforged to increase their value.
Upgradeable items are available all over the game, both within the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. Upgrade components are the main way to upgrade equipment. These are the items that can be inserted into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with slots to upgrade and some require a specific level of upgrade. Some upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while others give a general bonus.

There are many types of upgrade components available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. The universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments can be placed on any kind of equipment and offer lower bonuses than upgrades that are specific to equipment. Glyphs can only be found in gathering tools. They offer a range of bonuses, ranging from boosting the speed at which an item gathers to supplying additional crafting materials.
To upgrade an item, click it in your inventory and open the Upgrade window. The preview will appear on the right-hand side of the screen. It will show the expected stats following the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will be labeled as blocked if you don't have enough of either.
The number of upgrade components needed for a particular item is displayed in the upper-right corner of the window for upgrading. The cost of an upgrade increases depending on the rarity and level of the item increases. However you can cut down on this cost by purchasing upgrades from a merchant or trading them with other players.
Many weapons can be improved by a prefix like a rune or an insignia. Some can be improved with an suffix. These upgrades can be used to add an adjective to the item's name for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs are a powerful tool to communicate visual information. They are animated to grab the attention of the viewers and trigger interest in the brain. The animation of glyphs resembles body language, making them more effective at conveying a message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs also improve the retention of the message by triggering an emotional connection in the brain.
Each glyph comes with a range of values that it can increase a stat's value in the form of an item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an artifact. This range is not the exact amount at which the glyph will increase a stat, but the maximum amount by which it is able to do so. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the quality and tier of the item you're in awe of it.
The majority of upgrade components installed into items cannot be removed or replaced without removing them, with the exception of legendary upgrades and equipment. However, if you have a non-useful rune or glyph that has not yet been incorporated into your gear, you can move it to a different piece gear by using the upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.
You can remove a glyph by using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item where the glyph is located will be destroyed, however the upgraded item can be salvaged using the glyph shards.
When you remove an item after adding a glyph the shards of the glyph will vanish. You can also put a glyph on your equipment to give it a bonus. For example the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and deal it slowly rather than all at once. This is useful for players who take lots of damage from enemies but do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens let players alter the affixes on their weapons and equipment and they can be obtained in a variety of ways like mistery boxes or as a rare drop from skulled creatures, or from killing bosses. Every reroll grants the player a random affix that is usually better than what they had before. Reroll tokens are also a good option to reroll stats on weapons that can be upgraded to increase damage or additional perks.
Rerolled items do not appear in the menu of upgrade options, but they are still able to be upgraded. Casesgg rerolled items are able to be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle. The level gauge is increased by recycling an item. The amount is determined based on the item's rarity as well as its level. Therefore, higher-leveled items are more valuable for recycling than those with lower levels.
In addition to tokens for rerolls, players can make use of Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to roll the traits of a weapon in an upgraded unit. Rerolls roll a percentage chance to determine a weapon's trait. If it scores higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower, the weapon remains unchanged. Weapons can be repeatedly rolled up to three times.
Rerolling is a great option to upgrade an item. However, players should be aware that the total ilvl will be diminished by the number of rerolls it took to get it to the final level. This lowering effect is most effective on Diadems and ring items, which have no other options for raising ilvls.
The system of rerolls has been criticised by players for being expensive and it's more fair to let people pay for it using money or food items that allows them to change their builds without wasting time and effort. The developers do not plan to introduce paid rerolls at this stage in the game's development. They are planning to add an ingredient that allows players to alter their race in the near future.
Leveling
There are a variety of ways to increase the level of an upgrade for an item. The first method of leveling up an item upgrade is to increase the upgrade amount. This boosts the upgrade value for the stat. The second option is to boost the effect of an upgrade, which increases the healing or damage for an individual stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. Once this is done the new item will maintain its iLevel but it will benefit from the upgrade effects of the upgraded type of item.
It is important to keep in mind that upgrades are not guaranteed. Most of the time, a higher roll is determined by glyphs. However, there are times where a higher or more special roll can occur. In addition the iLevel of an upgrade will be determined by the item type and when you upgrade a rare or unusual item to an extraordinary type it will have a chance to get an increased iLevel.
Upgrades to items can be costly, particularly if you're upgrading a piece of equipment from a standard to the legendary track. The cost of upgrading a piece of equipment will depend on its base iLevel as well as the number of levels to upgrade. Certain upgrade tracks require crests in order to get to the next level.
If you're fortunate the upgraded item could reach the maximum level on its upgrade track and unlock an additional effect. This will give you a substantial boost in the upgrade value of the item. The bonus effect will change with each upgrade level however. In general, the effect of upgrading is increased by +3.
Based on the item's base level and its upgrade path, the iLevel of the upgraded item will also change. For instance an item upgraded from being a scarce or exclusive item to an extraordinary one is likely to gain the Enhanced Defence of the new base item.
